鹽分地帶的風疾疾的吹動著,西南沿海的鄉野地帶,沉靜又純樸的漁村,有著邊陲地帶的荒涼與沉寂,相較於現代的生活節奏與習慣,這種鄉野的自然樸素與單純,早早就在離我們而去,甚至已不在想像之中了。

洪通–猶如人的心靈底層與自然純樸,就在紛雜眾囂的時代裡,連一點點的氣息與聲音都快被消盡,但我們還是要存在著自由的想像,就像洪通的畫,連結起我們深埋已久的內在天真與狂想。

洪通說:「繪畫要畫自己心裡的東西,畫的使自己感到爽快」,而當今的現代社會中,處處存在著利益導向的價值觀念,迅速又千變萬化的世界中,又有誰能為某些微小的價值繼續堅持與耕耘?洪通作畫一向隨心所欲的從內在的感受與聲音,不過度強求或刻意矯飾,自然的顯現出動人的價值與意義。

《狂想‧洪通》就是以洪通的畫去做想像,畫中有話富饒趣味,猶如扭曲身體的小人物,述說著自然土地與文化的情懷,又道訴出現實世界的紛擾與險惡,這不也是洪通藝術生命中的無奈心境嗎?

洪通執著於自己的藝術世界裡,畫出他的真實與感觸,但當今世界裡又有多少人追逐著利益,又有多少人執著於真誠的價值,我們究竟是瘋子還是傻子?看似選擇般的兩種面向,不如在畫中之話中,讓心靈尋思異想的再去感受著樸素的情懷。在瞬即萬變的扭曲世界中,很容易迷失掉天真般的內在感觸,讓我們猶如野地裡的花朵般,自在的綻放與蔓延,串起赤子之心的無限想像,讓我們從生命中、自然中、文化中、慶典中再次牽引起我們對這個時代的感觸與悸動。

『狂想』著畫中的奇觀,純樸自然又充斥著未來感,不覺自主的在充滿靈幻的鄉野樂園中,翱遊著天真般的想像,這一切的奇幻如此的貼近著土地,也如此的顯現出心靈底層的映照。 「洪通」洪通猶如熟悉又陌生的心靈畫筆,曾經在紙墨世界裡揮灑著真實情感,也在筆墨的色彩中描繪出世俗的現實與幻想,隨心所欲的拼湊出令人爽快又神秘憂深的奇思幻境。

Self-taught Taiwanese painter, Hung Tung is famous for his fantastical representation of the everyday Taiwanese experience in the Sixties and Seventies. His signature vibrant colors and strong lines depict the burdens and desires at the depth of the human hearts. Inspired by this Taiwanese master's works, Thunar Circus's multimedia production captures his style that's at once unpretentious, whimsical, and futuristic. The contemporary circus performance is complements by puppetry, shadow play, gezaixi or “taiwanese opera,” and electronic music. The show not only brings Hung's paintings to life but connects to 21st-century Taiwanese society. The result is a dreamlike spectacle that will take you on a journey through the past and the present.

The wind from the sea fiercely blows through the quiet and simple fishing villages at the countryside along the south-west coast. Located in a border area, it feels desolate and silent. Compared with modern lifestyle and habits, the natural simplicity and purity of the countryside have already been leaving us, or even not been living in our imagination.

Hung Tung’s existence is similar to the imagination deep within and natural unsophistication, which are nearly eliminated in this era bombarded with hustle and bustle. But one should still harbor the freedom to imagine, just like Hung Tung’s paintings, connecting the inner innocence and fantasy deeply buried for a long time.

Hung Tung said, “We should display what’s inside us when painting, and make ourselves feel refreshed.” However, the society nowadays has seen interest-oriented values far and wide. In this quick, ever changing world, who can keep persisting in and sowing for those subtle values? From inside feelings and voices at his will, Hung Tung’s paintings always innately illustrate values and meanings that touch our hearts, with no excessively compelling or deliberate addition.

This performance is envisaged on the basis of Hung Tung’s paintings, which contain interesting overtones and significance. He is just like a nobody who distorts the body expressing his sympathy for the natural land and culture as well as addressing the turmoil and perils in the real world.

Hung Tung is engrossed in his own art world, depicting the reality and feelings he has faced. But how many people nowadays in the world are pursuing interests, and how many people would stick to genuine values? Are we crazy or fools? Instead of being entangled with two aspects to make choice, one should let the mind freely experience the simplicity within the hidden words in the paintings. In this ever changing and distorted world, it is likely to lose the naive vibrations inside our minds. Let us comfortably bloom and expand like flowers in wilderness, reaching the infinite childlike imaginations. Let us trigger the feelings and sentiments towards the world, from life, nature, culture, and festivals.
